If you don’t already know, Ruby joon Studios is Rebecca Wellman Photography’s wedding name. With the high maintenance of two sites, blogs, bank accounts, tax returns, sets of business cards, packaging color schemes…(I could go on), I have decided to run all business out of Rebecca Wellman Photography. I still do weddings. You will still get the same photographer, experience and image style. The only thing changing is the name.

I have a special place in my heart for how Ruby joon began and ran, and while I am keeping the name for other endeavors, I feel I can spend my time more wisely, on working for you, my clients, rather than remaining elbow deep in dual sets of paperwork.

So many hands contributed to this day and I know I could never mention them all here. From the early part of the day to the wee hours, not a beat was skipped. Not a thing misplaced. And because of what everyone contributed, I got to photograph a whole lot of pretty things. So, thank you all!

I spent all day  with Jewleana and Chris. The longest I’ve ever spent at a wedding, actually. And so it’s only fitting that this blog post be the longest as well. So much more to share! But that will just have to be for the bride and groom.

Jewls and Chris – honestly. It was such a pleasure and an honor to spend time with you over these months. Jesse Holland and I were in awe at every turn, with every sparkle and ribbon and detail to shoot. Thank you, sincerely, for making us a part of your day. Many hugs. ~ Rebecca xo

Chris and his boys started the day with brunch at Chef Suzi in the Square in Bastion Square where Chris was presented with a gift from his bride-to-be.

At the same time, Jewls was back at The Fairmont Empress, getting gorgeous. This with the expertise of Melanie Baird and Jenny Clark, make up artists extraordinaire.

Gorgeous flowers by gorgeous ladies: Verbena Floral Design...

And the stunning dress by Blush Bridal.

The boys were up to their own antics.

Jewleana and Chris decided to meet before the ceremony. So, Jewls arrived at Beacon Hill Park by horse drawn carriage, to see her groom.

The ceremony was held at St. Anne’s Academy, in the auditorium. Beforehand, the guests were served tea. An excellent idea, given that it was beginning to get very cold, and slightly rainy. We were also graced by the presence of a wonderful three piece band, including cello, violin and viola.

After the ceremony, we headed downtown for a few portraits.

Then back to the Empress for more music, food, dancing and fun! Blair was there from Island Photobooth and The Politics of Dancing kept everyone, well, dancing!

OK, the rain had a mind of its own. But it all came together!

Here’s your little sneak peek you guys! Very much looking forward to your wedding extravaganza in less than a month!

When I met Sherrie and Kevin last year, I got the impression that there would be a very relaxed, easygoing, casual yet beautiful event. Things handmade and though out. Whimsical and detailed. Each piece fitting together perfectly. And that’s what Jesse Holland and I found when we shot their country backyard wedding last month. Complete with goats and barn cats and all things in place.

Sherrie and Kevin – I hope you had a fabulous day that day. Thank you for allowing me to capture it for you… I wish you all the best in your years together! xoxo

Friends literally came from all over the world to celebrate the joining of these two families, which it really, clearly was. While of course this day was about Dan and Micayla,  it was obvious to me that this day marked the beginning of a new and lasting friendship amongst many.

This wouldn’t have happened of course, without David and his team from Feys and Hobbs Catered Arts, the lovely Verbena Floral Design, and for me: Heather Armstrong Photography who was there as my second shooter.

Dan and Micayla – thank you for allowing me to be a part of your big, extravagant day. It was a pleasure! ~ xo

The space was fabulous and the food was fantastic, and despite the humble protests from the performers themselves, the highlight was definitely the groom’s band and their dedicated groupies!

Here’s wishing you a very happy anniversary!

This was a special wedding for me, because if I hadn’t have been the photographer, I would have been a guest. It was a lovely combination of capturing through the lens and experiencing it as a friend, concentrating on work, and pausing to hear the touching words of the ceremony and to raise a glass.
