Jean and Andy got Married. Again.

Jean and Andy got married on the sandy beaches of Tofino this past May. The party though, took place a few weeks ago, where they stood in front of family and friends and once again promised themselves to one another.

The space was fabulous and the food was fantastic, and despite the humble protests from the performers themselves, the highlight was definitely the groom’s band and their dedicated groupies!

Congratulations Jean and Andy! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your (second) big day. xox

J and S…you may remember them from their rainy engagement session. Well, as luck would have it, we got a day full of sunshine for their wedding day at the stunning Merridale Cidery!

This was a special wedding for me, because if I hadn’t have been the photographer, I would have been a guest. It was a lovely combination of capturing through the lens and experiencing it as a friend, concentrating on work, and pausing to hear the touching words of the ceremony and to raise a glass.

J and S – here’s to you. And Emma. And the wonderful days ahead that I look forward to sharing. Many hugs and kisses. xo

Ok, this image below cracks me up. You can see that it was “that time” of evening…and if the little girls got a running shot, why not the big boys? :)

Kim Kalyn, wedding photographer extraordinaire, married Darren one year ago today. On what may have been the hottest day of the year, Michelle and I joined the two of them and their guests for a lovely backyard wedding, followed by a super fun urban portrait session in Chinatown.

It’s hard to believe a year has gone by. It’s hard to believe it’s summer!

Last year, at this time, Michelle and I shot Stefanie and Jeremy’s wedding at the incredible grounds of Pearson College in Metchosin.

Vanessa and Neil and I spent a very beautiful, but very chilly evening looking over Gonzales last weekend. The scenery was stunning and luckily, they were OK with keeping each other warm. :)

Both of these two are full of smiles and fun. Laughter and love. It was a pleasure to capture them as they begin this stage of their lives, and I look forward to their wedding this summer!

Vanessa’s gorgeous makeup was done by the lovely Jenny at Pacific Makeup Group.

Welcome to the West Coast. It’s a good thing that J and S appreciate that we get rain. Regularly. They are campers and hikers and this, thankfully, didn’t scare them away. So, shoot in the rain it was.

We had sweet Emma with us as well, along with her pink Fisher Price camera and her contagious smile. There was an obvious adoration between the three of them. A fun, playful, genuine want-to-be-together kind of connection.

So, thanks guys, for wearing the Gortex! I am so looking forward to your wedding that is coming up in July! (where we’ll hope for sunshine of course.) ;)

I have met with Micayla and Dan a few times now, and have learned a few things about them. Namely, that they’re classy, talented and super fun. A good portion of the engagement session was full of big laughs and these two were great sports. As I was going through the engagement images choosing some for the blog, I found myself smiling and laughing at the craziness of some of them. They had me laughing out loud! It’s always interesting to figure out what it takes to bring out a smile in someone and I will never forget Dan’s ‘queue’ word…the one that makes him giggle…that I can’t repeat here. ;)

Dan is a chef (one of my favorite types of people!) who is starting on a wonderful reputation in town. Together they are in the process of building a site that will showcase Dan’s uber-talents. I will share this with you when it’s ready…

Micayla and Dan – I had a wonderful time with you two and I am very much looking forward to your wedding this September!
